Psychological Evaluations

Our goal is to use psychological testing along with interviews, observations, collateral reports, and review of relevant records to work together with clients to answer questions that they, or someone else, may have about their mental health.  A psychological evaluation is a collaborative process.

Areas that can be assessed using psychological testing include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Depressive, Bipolar, and Mood Disorders

  • Anger and Irritability

  • Personality Disorders

  • Problems associated with Traumatic Experiences

  • Behavioral problems in Children and Adolescents

  • Developmental Disabilities

  • Cognitive and Adaptive Disabilities

  • Learning Disabilities

  • Parent – Child Relationship Problems

  • Clarification of Mental Health Diagnoses

  • Pre-Employment Evaluation

  • Pre-Adoption Evaluation

Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who are under the age of 6 years will be assessed using the DC: 0-5 framework and diagnostic system.  Children, adolescents, and adults will be assessed using the DSM-5 framework and diagnostic system.

Additionally, psychological evaluations typically conducted following a court order include:

  • Parenting Assessments

  • Psychological evaluations for adults involved in the child welfare system

  • Psychological evaluations for children/adolescents involved in the child welfare system

  • Psychological evaluations for adolescents/adults who have been charged with a crime

Note: health insurance often covers all or part of a psychological evaluation.  However, it is important to verify coverage with your insurance provider prior to scheduling the service.  In most cases assessments of learning disabilities and court-ordered assessments are not covered by health insurance.
